Julie Janssen Maurer is an Ashton native and 1986 North Fremont graduate - Julie was born and raised in Ashton and just out of high school, joined the US Air Force spending 20 years of active duty service and 6 years of civil service working in the Munitions career field. While in the Air Force, Julie met and married her soul mate ~ Tim Maurer, they have 6 children and 5 grandchildren. In 2012, Tim and Julie moved back to Ashton to be closer to Julie’s dad, Marvin, and help take care of the ranch. Both Tim and Julie work full-time for the Henry’s Fork Foundation, are very active in Zion Lutheran church and the American Legion (Tim is Commander and Julie serves as Finance Officer and Adjutant), and Julie also serves on the Ashton Chamber of Commerce as secretary. In their spare time Tim and Julie enjoy running – they typically do 3-5 marathons per year; working on the ranch; and Julie loves gardening both vegetables and especially flowers ~ Tim built her a greenhouse to help extend growing seasons and have a place for all the supplies! It has always been Julie’s dream to start a floral business and what an extra special blessing it has been to share this dream with her dear friend, Barb Lissow! They both share in the love of flowers and want to provide this service to the Ashton community as a way to show thoughtfulness and caring to family and friends!
Barb Lissow was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, to an Idaho-farm-girl-turned-nurse and an Iowa-farm-boy-turned-WW2-veteran. Barb has been married to the love of her life husband Rev. Alex Lissow for 52 years, and has 3 children, 9 grandkids, and one great-grand baby. Barb has lived in 10 US states, 8 of them with her hubby thru military and government contracting assignments, and the others with her folks who also traveled while in the US Air Force. Barb attended college in California and Idaho, and was a working mom in administrative-accounting management until she retired in 2008. Always loving animals, Barb has become a “dog” mom, currently raising two rescue pups. Barb and Pastor Alex live in Ashton, and her hobbies are family and church events, fishing, quilting, writing (devotions, ladies’ Bible studies and cookbooks), traveling and flower arranging.
