You can spend a wonderful day skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, back country ski hut trips, sledding or simply enjoying the quiet solitude of the region. Summer

Summer activities in and around Ashton, Idaho are numerous. The Targhee National Forest is a great place to hike, bike, or horseback ride. Visitors and locals alike use the trails, streams, parks and back country areas to enjoy endless activities. Fly-fishing enthusiasts find endless miles of streams and rivers or cast their lines from the banks of local reservoirs and lakes. Others enjoy spending a day rafting/floating on Henry’s Fork of the Snake River. Still others enjoy the challenge of playing a round of golf in the middle of an aspen grove or a pine forest.

The largest summer event is the Fourth of July Celebration. Join the crowd on Main Street to watch the parade, then stroll to the City Park for a variety of treats to eat and games to play, plus a little shopping at the artisans’ tents, and finally make your way to view the fireworks at the ball field.

Spring and Fall

Both spring and fall in the Ashton area are filled with activities as well. In the spring, you can enjoy wildlife viewing including the newborn babies. Wildflowers cover the meadows as the snow melts and the new grass begins to grow. In the fall, the hills and mountains are a pallet for the brilliant gold, reds, yellows, and crimson colors of fall.
